I've read Barrack Obama's book, The Audacity for Hope, and it is quite a good book coming from a politician. I've been keeping up with him on television and media coverage, as well as several online polls, and despite doing well, is probably one of the few politicians I feel 'comfortable' around.

I know this sounds highly uninformed, because it is, but I really think he'd be a great president and if I could choose I'd want him for our first African American president instead of someone who is completely absorbed by the black vs white ordeal. He's got nothing to prove with race and is comfortable with who he is as a person and I respect that. People who say they're "color blind" need to open their eyes. Race isn't anything to hide or overlook, it's something we should all take a healthy pride in, but I just hate it when some one feels they've been wronged and automatically play the race card as if everything has to be about what race you are. Anyway, I've strayed from my point, if I ever had one.

You're fine, but you did point out another reason why Obama would be unique, considering he is of a mixed race background. I think he'd be more sympathetic with lower and middle income families, especially being a Democrat, and with a Democratic House and Congress, it may even be better.
Normally, I don't associate myself as either a Republican or Democrat, but who I feel is the best individual for the job. However, 70% of the United States are registered Democrats, myself included, though I don't vote just Democrat.
Also, having a black President would be good for this nation, it would finally kick down the door for others. But, it seems rather unfair that you have to be born in the United States to run for President, it's the one thing someone coming from overseas or across the border can never aspire to become, which is considered the penacle of the American Dream.
Regardless, I'll keep an eye on Obama, but if he continues as he has then beginning in 2007 I may have to purchase a few 'Obama 2008' t-shirts and bumper stickers.
