I don't know how to dance around this, so...
My autmobile was broken into, totally vandalized of everything, including my school books, wallet (with over $600), some small Christmas presents, and most of my custom interior... all gone, about $8,000 of damage done... years of work into the vehicle wasted, many weeks of hard work's pay gone, and unique presents pillaged...
I had to make one of the hardest decisions of my life earlier today, I had to sell the DeLorean (which works due to its being an uncommon vehicle) to compensate for the money and presents lost, so I could buy back my school books, help with a project activity the kids at the juvenile detention center were doing, and to reconsider rebuying a lot of presents.
It takes a lot to get me down, but this is about the breaking point. I've had that car in my life for as long as I can remember, my great uncle (who it belonged to) says I was riding in it since my birth. It has memories attatched to it, but there are some things with a higher priority, but worst of all is the feeling of knowing I'll have to cancel a lot of my memberships (as a lot of my membership cards were in the wallet), losing multiple points and carefully placed purchases, which would have been used in aiding Christmas spending, then telling my family I am sorry.
Of course, the icing on the cake is, included in the stolen merchandise, is my father's wedding ring -- the last tangible piece of my father. This has left me a nearly broken man, as everything, save the memories attatched to the DeLorean, can be replaced but this...
To recap, a list of the stolen items:
PlayStation 3 (including an extra controller, 1 game)
Nintendo Wii (including an extra controller, 1 game)
Interior leather coverings for vehicle
Custom stereo system
Father's wedding ring
23 College text books (ranging from $80-$300)
$600 in cash
GameStop Gift Card ($200; $100 each)
College Library Card
Public Library Card
Blockbuster Card
Wal-Mart Gas Gift Card ($50)
DeLorean proof of insurance
My birth certificate, as well as other forms of identification
Driver's license
Important Note: NONE of this stuff was out in the open, it was wrapped in blankets in the trunk, with the exception of the documents (license, ID, wallet) which were in the glove box.
